DAILY WORD of BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE 2023

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of our founder, Blessed James Alberione, we will reflect on his words and use them as our daily guide.

PRAYER INTENTION for NOVEMBER

Oh! Who, on the other hand, could understand the joy of the blessed, and how they in Heaven thank the Lord? And they will thank him for all eternity, for having given them the strength to carry out the mission and plans that God had for them on earth (Pr 1, 93).

The sign of holiness will always be humility, for all men, because holiness is seeking the glory of God; the proud, on the other hand, seeks his own... A soul will be truly holy, if he seeks and aims in everything for the glory of God (Pr 2, 29-30).

Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory, through the intercession of Mary and of all the Saints, free the souls of the faithful departed from the pains of purgatory. And, through the intercession of St Michael, standard-bearer of the celestial army, guide them in the holy light promised to Abraham and his descendants.

Our elevation always consists in the imitation of God, in living the life of Jesus Christ. Imitation of God also as Author and Editor. The author has a great model in the Divine Book, the Bible... God the Author, God the Editor (Pr 5, 136).

We have not understood what Redemption is. We have not understood that our office, that is, our apostolate, is to preach Jesus Christ, and thus to accompany the Church; in fact, to be part of the Church, which has entrusted this mission to us (Pr 1, 119).

No gift of God is wasted as much as with the mind, which is the most precious: how many poisoned pastures, especially today for reading materials, radio, cinema, television! How many thoughts contrary to faith and virtue! (ACV, 81).

The technical means, the machines, the letter types, all the cinematographic and all the radio equipment, etc., are sacred objects for the purpose they serve. Therefore, the machine becomes the pulpit; the place of composing, machines and propaganda, become the Church (Pr 5, 138).

Put all the intelligence in the works to carry them out well, always better; always studying ways and industries to accelerate their completion; in order to give an ever better result in everything (ACV, 85).

When a good book comes out, we do not talk so much about the author, or about the printer, or about the propagandist; it is said: the Pauline Family has published this book. This way of speaking indicates that the Family is united and forms only one thing (Pr 5, 137-138).

It is necessary to understand each other. The propagandist should tell what he needs and the author should be ready; the technician should hear the judgment of the propagandist and at the same time should allow himself to be directed by the author, so that from the union of all, together we can give what is truly beneficial to souls (Pr5, 139).

What nobility all Paulines have in dedicating themselves to an apostolate of Christianization and Christian civilization! Make yourselves loudspeakers of God, of Jesus Christ and of the Church! (Pr 5, 145).

The Priest is the preacher of spiritual things, of spiritual gifts. He is the one who makes the continuous “advertisement” of Paradise, so that everyone falls in love with it and wants to go there with every effort, and together he teaches the way and offers the means (Pr 5, 152).

The intention for today is this: To invoke the Holy Spirit on our spiritual work, so that He may enlighten, give good will, and instill fervour in our hearts (RSp, 21).

The abandonment of prayer means wanting to do it ourselves: we practically say: «I don’t need God». And do we believe that, by doing it ourselves, we will be able to do something good? (RSp, 31).

Piety of Pauline colour, that is, piety that is addressed to the Divine Master, to the Queen of Apostles, to St Paul. Our piety! It is the one that will give joy to the religious life. It will give joy and lead to sanctification, to a wide-ranging and profound apostolate (Pr 5, 147).

Today, the pulpit is not enough: all the means are needed. In just a few years, the world has really transformed itself and we, in order to walk with the world, need to update ourselves a little... (Pr 5, 149-150).

Always with the aim and with the thought of loving this Mother, of praying to this Mother, of studying this Mother, of being zealous for this Mother. And thus, prepare ourselves to go and sing her praises in heaven, and sing with her to the supreme Trinity. Then we will have reached our goal (Pr 5, 154).

In Mary we will find everything, because every good passes through her hands. Whoever wants grace and does not turn to her would be like a bird that wanted to fly, but did not have wings: it would not succeed (Pr 5, 154).

The humble person may be a poor barefooted person, it may be that he cannot read, that he could be sick and perhaps abandoned by everyone; but he possesses God and is the richest of all. God will think to exalt him (Pr 2, 154).

Feel Mary assisting us during the day, protecting us, extending her beneficial hand over us. And we feel Jesus who inspires us, who is in our soul: we, with Him; He, with us (Pr 5, 10).

The blessed soul comes to insert itself into the circulation of divine life, to also contemplate the Divine Essence, through the same light with which God knows himself. This does not destroy the nature of the soul, but elevates it... This is participating in the divine nature (ACV, 25-26).

It is in faith that the mind trains itself to live in God... The faithful believes, not because he has understood this with reason, but because God says so. He can also understand nothing of the mystery believed; but does it matter? God says it, that is enough. For the mind, this is a renunciation of living in itself, in order to live in God (ACV, 24).

If St Paul were alive, he would continue to burn with that double flame, with the same fire, the zeal for God and his Christ, and for the men of every country. And to make himself heard, he would rise to the highest pulpits and multiply his word with the means of today’s progress (ACV, 62).

There is therefore the need to have an apostolic heart... We do not have a cloistered life in the strict sense; we must reach the people: it is our duty, because this is our vocation. We have to bring there the use of the quickest and most fruitful means to disseminate the doctrine of Jesus Christ (Pr 5, 164).

One is not a Pauline if one does not have a big heart, a broad mind to think of all men, and neither does one have the spirit of Jesus Christ, who came to give his life for all. «God wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth» (Pr 5, 155).

Apostolate means doing a good work; do a work that serves humanity, a work that is particularly aimed at saving souls, elevating them with faith, with virtue, with grace (Pr 1, 121).

The first virtue is exercised by the mind: “faith”; the first four gifts of the Holy Spirit are directed to the mind: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel. From faith, as from the seed, the other virtues are developed (ACV, 19).

We must be formed in Jesus Christ; indeed this is true formation in Christ: living Jesus Christ, living him as He is, the Way, the Truth and the Life (Pr 5, 123).

O Queen, grant that whoever enters this temple to ask you for graces, go out happy for having been heard. May the sinner have forgiveness, the doubtful, light; the afflicted one, consolation; the sick one, health; the weak one, strength; the worker, his daily bread; the lukewarm, fervour (Pr 5, 119).

Preparation for eternity lies in establishing our whole being in God...: mind, will, heart, body: through Jesus Christ, in Jesus Christ, with Jesus Christ. The present life must present in itself the specific form and characteristics that make it a true preparation for eternal bliss (ACV, 29).
