DAILY WORD of BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE 2023

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of our founder, Blessed James Alberione, we will reflect on his words and use them as our daily guide.

PRAYER INTENTION for AUGUST

Sin, first of all, depends on the mind; the merit, the good work, depend on the mind as well. What one thinks will eventually become action (Pr 2, 58).

The passionate man is overwhelmed in his mind, in his heart, in his conduct. The upright man, the good Christian, the saint who wants to love God, turns everything there (Pr 2, 59).

O our tender Mother Mary, gate of heaven, source of peace and joy, help of Christians ... convert me once and for all. I repeat the resolution, which I place in your heart, to fight against my self-love and to fight relentlessly my principal defect.

Do we believe that even closed in a room, even in silence, even in suffering, we can exercise a very extensive apostolate? We do not get everywhere with the press, nor do we get everywhere with the radio, but through Jesus we can reach every soul (Pr 5, 74).

The little flower that opens in the morning, the bird that sings, the immense sea, the imposing mountains and everything that takes place and has taken place in history: everything speaks to us of God... Creation is a revelation, and blessed is the one who knows how to read it in the book of creation (Pr 2, 121).

The heavens magnify your power, Lord; the order of creation, indeed the very things of creation, show us that you have made everything, that everything comes from you and you have arranged everything in number and weight and measure, and you have ordered everything to a single end: that the creatures know you, praise you and, praising you, have their happiness (Pr 2, 120-121).

Let us ask Jesus, through Mary, for a living faith, in the divine mysteries, in the truths that Jesus Christ preached and the Church teaches us. Let the mind be occupied with holy things, of God’s will (Pr 5, 6).

Lord, we ask you for heavenly wisdom: that we may be guided in the holy love of God; that we may be always and only guided in your doctrine, O Divine Master Jesus Christ. We ask you for strength and virtue; we ask you forlove of prayer... we ask you for fidelity and generosity (Pr1, 52).

Whoever walks along the road easily covers himself with dust: it is necessary that at the end of the journey, he cleans himself; it is necessary that in the evening, before going to bed, we cleanse our soul with repentance (Pr 2,95).

When, at the end of her earthly life, Mary left this earth, she became more caring and more powerful with the Son of God. From there she arouses vocations, from there she accompanies vocations, from there she protects all apostolates and today, in a particular way, that is so necessary for the editions (Pr 1, 129).

The end of life is to prepare ourselves for a happy eternity: the eternal salvation of the whole man: mind, will, heart, body… We prepare for eternal salvation, when the whole man is healthy: mind, will, heart (ACV, 28).

The apostle of the editions must communicate the truth that saves; he is the continuer of the Divine Master: «As the Father has sent me, so I send you»; «I am the light of the world»; «You are the light of the world» (ACV, 19).

The means to know Jesus well, to imitate him, live from him and make him known, rests here: an intense interior work, with prayer, with examinations of conscience, with confession, with vigilance, with effort (Pr 2, 55).

The most effective way to find good ways out of our difficulties is always prayer. It may be that one would look for a solution for months and months and could not find it:one should go to the Tabernacle. «I no longer know whereto turn my head», said a person once... «Hit it against the Tabernacle» (RS p, 30).

We always receive lessons. It can be said that one year gives lesson to another, if we are attentive. And when were member that we have offended God, then we walk with greater humility, we pray more, we watch over ourselves... over the dangers that we encounter. Vigilance! (Pr 2, 124).

The daily fulfilment of our duties is a continuous hymn of love that we raise to the Most Holy Trinity (Pr 2, 125).

The true life to which we are directed after the earthly pilgrimage is the supernatural life of celestial glory: in it,we will be happy with the same happiness of God. It will not be a human table on which we will sit, but the divine table itself (ACV, 28).

Jesus addresses humanity, in the person of John the Apostle, with the word so dear to us: «John, behold your Mother». Mother: in this word, everything was included. She was given as mother to humanity. Mary is the Mother of the Apostles, Teacher of the Apostles and, at the same time, their Queen (Pr 1, 128).

In piety, there is love, and words take on a great meaning. When the spirit of piety is lacking, a song can be sung well, but without feeling; when instead there is piety, then one hears what he is saying, what one sings to God (Pr 2,126).

When there is piety, the work in typography is an apostolate, an expression of love for souls, work for their salvation. When there is no piety, it is a simple manual work, a common work (Pr 2, 128).

When one has the gift of piety, Communion, Mass, the Visit take on a special meaning. When one has the true spirit of piety, one loves the Most Holy Virgin as mother, one has intimacy with Jesus (Pr 2, 127).

Holiness is a high-tension virtue; it is the momentum and the poetry of good. The good hardly done, with a dropper,by necessity... is not holiness (ACV, 36).

The saint is not an exhausted man, a half-conscious person who does not know how to take his own part in life… For Saint Paul, holiness is the full maturity of man, the perfect man (ACV, 36).

In heaven, all together we will form the “Pauline Family”,which will no longer be separated and will no longer be divided due to death, or for any other reasons. Let us live now as an anticipation of heaven: as the blessed in heaven love each other, so let us love one another on earth (Pr 1,56).

After Jesus, the one who loved the Most Holy Virgin was St Joseph... God, who had united these two persons, communicated particular graces to them. And these two holy persons lived as if in a communion of work and prayer, in a contest of virtue and merit (Pr 2, 82).

The Liturgy is a continuous teaching. Whoever penetrates the Liturgy will grow in the spirit of faith, will know the way to holiness ever better and will unite himself ever more intimately with Jesus Christ (Pr 2, 8).

The saint does not only involve himself, but gets things done; he does not stop, but has for his coat of arms the“grew up” (Lk 2:52). Holiness is life, movement, mobility, effervescence; that good one, not of what falls, but of what rises (ACV, 36).

Mary Queen of the Apostles... «Know your Mother!» and know her under that particular title that you must invoke, honour, follow, imitate... Honour her especially with the intelligent, generous practice of the apostolate and with the commitment to preparing the apostolate (Pr 5, 64).

Let our apostolate be humble: it is enough that we employ in it all the talents received; it is enough that we do it diligently for the love of God and for the love of souls (Pr 1,13-14).

True holiness, according to Jesus Christ and the authentic saints, is in the first commandment: you will love with all your mind, strength and heart. The supernatural rests on the natural and elevates it... Man is reasonable, he understands the good, then he desires it, then he wants it (ACV,54).

Religious life is the life that Jesus chose for himself;which Mary and Joseph practiced perfectly; that the Apostles and innumerable souls embraced; who gave the Church so many heroic defenders of the faith, men of science and art, benefactors in every social sector (ACV, 60).
