DAILY WORD of BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE 2023
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of our founder, Blessed James Alberione, we will reflect on his words and use them as our daily guide.
PRAYER INTENTION for JUNE
The apostolate can be of the word, of the pen, of suffering, but all Pauline families have a purpose. They join hands to achieve this purpose, and so that the doctrine of Jesus Christ is preached by modern and fastest means (Pr 1, 14).
The work of Jesus was directed to a very high end: he had come to save men, and he saved them. Mary and Joseph collaborated in this redemption. Thus the Pauline apostle carries out his apostolate as much when he handles the pen, as when he sets in motion the machine to print what has been composed (Pr 1, 118).
I bless you, Jesus, for the great mercy granted to St Paul in changing him from a fiercepersecutor into an ardent apostle of the Church. And you, O great Saint, obtain for me a heart docile to grace, conversion from my main defect and a full configuration to Jesus Christ.
God is One, but also Triune; therefore, God wanted to adorn man with three faculties, each of which has the imprint of a Divine Person: the will of the Father, the intelligence of the Son, the sentiment of the Holy Spirit: divine masterpiece of the Triune God (ACV, 87).
In Communion, Jesus also heals illnesses of the mind: «The mind healed is also elevated», to overcome ignorance, thoughtlessness, forgetfulness, dullness, superstition, prejudice, etc. Jesus will think in us: «Christ lives in me». Now the intellectual life is the first and most necessary (ACV, 101).
The Eucharist is nourishment for the soul. «I am the living bread came down from Heaven». As bread sustains the body, so the Eucharist sustains the soul, repairs our weaknesses; fortifies, gladdens the spirit; it is the true food of the soul. Therefore, we need to eat this food (Pr 2, 25).
The Visit to the Blessed Sacrament for the apostle is like an audience, a school, where the disciple or minister talks to the Divine Master. There are many methods proposed to draw the greatest fruits from this practice. The most specific one is in honour of Jesus Master, Way, Truth and Life (ACV, 103).
Jesus Christ is the perfect original; Paul was made and he made himself form for us; whereby we are forged in him, to reproduce Jesus Christ (ACV, 63).
In Jesus Christ, man can remake himself: in the mind, by believing in him; in the will, by following his examples; in the heart, through the grace he deserves (ACV, 29).
It is easy to understand that the Christian life must be grafted onto Christ: now Christ is Truth, Way and Life; the mind grafted into the mind of Christ, the will into the will of Christ, the heart into the heart of Christ. Thus, the man at the judgment will be found conforming to the image of Christ (ACV, 31-32).
The Eucharist is the holiest of foods... The heart must be well prepared to receive Jesus... as the well-prepared soil produced thirty, sixty and one hundred fold (Pr 2, 25).
Here is the Priest, who preaches not only in the pulpit or in the confessional, but with the film and the press. «Ego sum lux mundi - Vosestis lux mundi». The Priest is Jesus preaching (Pr 5, 150).
Our apostolate is not a profession: the machine is blessed, the one composing is blessed, everything that makes up the printing press equipment is blessed... Those are sacred things and serve the apostolate, which is sacred (Pr1, 118).
From thoughts come words, feelings, actions; it is the mind that inspires, as the pilot flies the plane, as the driver drives the car (ACV, 19).
Saint Paul-form is not so for a physical reproduction of bodily features, but to communicate to us his personality as much as possible: mentality, virtue, zeal, piety... everything. Let the Pauline Family, made up of many members, be Paul living in a social body (ACV, 63).
Either we have faith and believe that our apostolate is truly evangelization, or we do not enter into the spirit of the Congregation. But if one has this faith, one enters the spirit of the Congregation and carries out the apostolate with a supernatural spirit (Pr 5, 40).
The Heart of Mary is full of love for God; it is full of love for us: we can always turn to that Heart... we are all in that Heart, there is room for each of us; we are loved by this Mother (Pr 1, 148).
Whoever has the ideal of «giving God to the world and the world to God», becomes effective in the apostolate, walks in the footsteps of St Paul, who “believed” and was the Apostle to the Gentiles (RSp, 12).
The Apostle of the Gentiles believed in the power of the Gospel, he believed that only from Jesus Christ comes truth, holiness, peace and salvation (RSp, 12).
Jesus Christ also says that the sheep know the voice of the shepherd and follow him. The true faithful do not listen to false shepherds and false prophets. Instead, they listen to Jesus Christ, Peter, the Pope (BM2, 260).
Furthermore, we must do the apostolate well: listen carefully to the leaders who lead. Support them and ask for explanations, when we have not yet learned well. Therefore, allowing oneself to be guided docilely: it will be a very pleasing submission to God (Pr 1, 124).
The intentions of Jesus are included in that expression: «Behold that Heart that loved men so much and spared nothing for them». We also must say: «Caritas Christi urgetnos». It is the charity of Christ that carries us, that pushes us to do the work we are doing (Pr 1, 124).
By carrying out the apostolate, we follow the vocation that God has given us and carry out the divine will. Vocation is that will of God that destines a soul to a particular state: that is, to work in a special way for one’s own soul and for the souls of one’s brothers (Pr 1, 122).
Consecrate our apostolate to Jesus Master through Mary Most Holy and St Paul. Furthermore, be grateful to the Lord, because he deigned to elevate us and make us partakers of the work of redemption and the salvation of humanity (Pr 1, 119-120).
The importance of propaganda lies here: in reaching souls. Maximum diffusion. It is necessary that we have chosen books, chosen production, but that it be multiplied indefinitely. A book, even if excellent, if it remains in stock, or if few copies are distributed, what good will it do? (Pr 5, 139).
Jesus Christ shows the Father in heaven his hands not only pierced by nails, but also calloused by the tools of work, which he used assiduously, with those sublime intentions. And we accept his intentions... when we go to the apostolate (Pr 1, 120).
Such was the holiness of life of St John the Baptist; so effective was his word on the crowds as to move them to penance; such was the resonance of his wonders that many thought he was the Messiah (BM2, 169).
Work has materially changed, improved, transformed, but the spirit is always the same ... to make known Jesus Christ, his doctrine, his teachings, his means of grace, of salvation: proposed, offered to humanity. It is God’s will (Pr 1, 122).
St Peter and St Paul were united by God in the apostolate, united in martyrdom, associated in glory on earth and in heaven. Today we especially honour St Peter and, in him, the Pope (BM2, 378-379).
Oh! If St Paul lived now, what new problems would his heart be preoccupied with? And how he would launch himself to help humanity, to put it on the path of truth, now that... very false ideologies torment humanity and undermine Christianity at its core! (Pr 5, 66).
