DAILY WORD of BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE 2023
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of our founder, Blessed James Alberione, we will reflect on his words and use them as our daily guide.
Let us honour our Mother, Teacher and Queen Mary, in order to obtain the accomplishment of the editorial apostolate, the technical apostolate, the propaganda apostolate, the apostolate of priestly service, the liturgical apostolate, every apostolate, in the spirit of Mary (Pr 1, 126-127).
What graces are we to ask especially from Mary? Heavenly wisdom, so that our minds may never be enveloped in the darkness of error; firmness in our resolutions, in our decisions. God bless the good intentions through the intercession of Mary (Pr 1, 41).
O most candid Virgin, august Queen of Martyrs, morning Star, let the great Africa, the immense Asia, the promising Oceania, the troubled Europe, the two Americas exert a powerful fascination on our souls; may the apostolate win many generous hearts.
If there are apostles who have a heart kindled with love of God, a soul full of Jesus Christ, an education and a living faith, then the face of the earth will be renewed, of this earth that is still covered by so many errors, from so many idolatries and from so many vices (Pr 5, 45).
Why love your neighbour? Because he is the image of God. We must pass before our brother with that reverence with which we pass before the image of the Most Holy Trinity (RSp, 110-111).
Love Mary, because she is our great benefactress. Let us look back: what we have, came to us through her hands. And then, let us look forward: all that we hope, through Mary, we will receive, from her hands. Let us love her, this Mother, and let us pray to her (Pr 2, 180).
We must consider the apostolate of the Pauline Family as sacred. At the same time, we can add what the Pope said to Catholic Editors a few days ago. It is not necessary that they always talk about religion. All that is good is Catholic (Pr 5, 131).
The Lord from heaven designates to Mary each of us: Behold your son. Very great is our Mother, very powerful, very wise: a heart that loves everyone. She fulfils towards every soul the offices that a good mother has towards her son. Then the fruit must be great confidence (Pr 1, 150).
The gift of piety places in our souls the inclination, the facility to honour and love God as our Father and to place all our filial trust in Him (Pr 2, 125).
Make Jesus Christ known as «Way, Truth and Life»: that is, Jesus Christ inasmuch as he has given us a most holy morality; he revealed to us very high truths of faith; he has given us the means of salvation, which are the Sacraments (Pr 1, 118)
In each day of her life, Mary made some progress in holiness: greater faith, greater love, greater abandonment to God and to his will. Do we progress every day? (Pr 1, 150).
May men rejoice because Jesus Christ has left to humanity the Church, Teacher, to continue his infallible teaching. Before going up to Heaven, He lit a lamp that will not be extinguished: the unfailing Church (Pr 2, 14).
Mary... asks us: «Are you my son? Be a grateful, loving, devoted child; be a son who often thinks of me; be a son who is zealous for my honour. And I will welcome you as a son when you depart from this life for the next» (Pr 2, 171).
Mary in heaven intercedes for us before God. Her office is to hear our petitions and to present them to God, to take grace from God and distribute it to her children. Oh! How much this Mother helps us! How much does this mother think of us! (Pr 2, 179).
To love the Lord means to unite ourselves with Jesus through the mind, through the heart, then to be united in life. Mary makes us know her Son. As St Epiphanius said: She offers us to read the eternal book, which is the Word of God, the Son of God incarnate (Pr 2, 148-149).
Certainly the most profound imitation is made by those who live the life of union with Mary. This is the highest and most sanctifying form of our devotion to Mary: life of union; united with Mary to live Jesus fully (Pr 2, 169-170).
The gift of knowledge is a supernatural light of the Holy Spirit, which shows us how the truth of faith is worthy of being believed, of being accepted also for reasons derived from the natural order, and leads us to rise from the things of the earth towards God, towards heaven (Pr 2, 120).
The Pauline Family proposes to represent and live St Paul today... He lived the two precepts of love for God and neighbour in a way so perfect as to show Christ himself: «Christ lives in me» (ACV, 62).
The gift of fortitude is a permanent virtue that the Holy Spirit communicates to our will, to overcome the obstacles that would distance us from the practice of the virtues... He especially infuses our will and makes it robust to do good (Pr 2, 113).
Jesus made Mary mother of men... The mother gives life to her son; the mother feeds her child; the mother defends the child, dresses him and provides him with everything that the child is not yet able to obtain. Here is the office of our most holy Mother: she procures for us all the divine graces (Pr 2, 178-179).
When the Holy Spirit dwells in a soul, she produces the Christian virtues, the religious virtues; and when we have a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit, because we correspond to divine grace, it is here that one arrives at the gifts, at the fruits; one arrives at the beatitudes (Pr 1, 43).
Mary is the Queen of the Apostles. She is such because of her mission, and she is such because she has accomplished the greatest apostolate: that of giving Jesus Christ to the world. She is the Queen of the Apostles; she is an Apostle herself, as Jesus Christ is the King of the Apostles and the first Apostle himself, the Apostle of the Father (Pr1, 121).
Mary’s apostolate is known even better when we see her seated among the Apostles in the Upper Room and there, as Queen, preceding them in prayer, encouraging them to hope and believe in the promises that Jesus had made (Pr1, 128).
If the Holy Spirit pours out his gifts abundantly, then one walks with a cheerful, generous soul in the way of holiness; one hardly feels the weight, although in reality the weight, difficulties always accompany us (Pr 2, 120).
Mary, the Apostle of interior life; Mary, the Apostle for her most holy examples; Mary, the Apostle for her suffering; Mary, the Apostle for her word; Mary, the Apostle for her action: Mary’s whole life is an apostolate, and this apostolate is not finished; this apostolate continues now in heaven (Pr 1, 129).
She was the Mother of all, she was the counsellor of the Apostles, she was their consoler; she continually encouraged them: and her own example of her holiness, in those years as long as she remained on earth, was a true apostolate. A great apostolate: the Apostles and the faithful learned from her how the Gospel is practiced and how it is lived (Pr 1, 128).
It is necessary that the Holy Spirit infuse his wisdom, his knowledge, the gift of counsel and strength: because, when there is no light that proceeds from God, even the holiest things are little esteemed (Pr 1, 116).
Yes, let us invite Jesus to live in us, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, stirring in us a great love for him. That we love him with all our mind, with all our strength, with all our heart; may charity grow in us: charity towards God, charity towards people (Pr 2, 48-49).
Consider the Church as Teacher of humanity: teacher of faith, teacher of morality, teacher of prayer; that all men become docile children of this Church, which is Jesus Christ who visibly continues to live among us (Pr 2, 46).
When speaking of propaganda, let us always remember the second joyful mystery: Mary’s visit to St Elizabeth. It is the first propaganda of Jesus. Mary herself carried him in her womb and brought him in health, salvation and sanctification to that family (Pr 5, 140).
The gifts of the Holy Spirit... are actions of the Holy Spirit that urge us to practice good, to fulfil our duties; they push us towards sanctification. The gifts of the Holy Spirit, therefore, make easier what would be difficult in itself... Let us always invoke the Holy Spirit and his gifts (Pr 2, 119-120).
