Cherish our Faith

Sister Grace Lee shows how a Daughter of St Paul

uses the mass and social media  to help people conserve and nourish their faith life.

Sr Grace has been a Daughter of St Paul for 51 years.  She has lived a very full and enriching life, learning and cherishing the Word of God so that she could understand it and spread it to many people through her mission.

St Paul, the beloved patron saint of her congregation, says in the Letter to the Colossians 3:16 “Let the Word of God dwell in you in all its richness.”

The Pauline way of preaching is through publications, radio, TV, films, audiovisuals, the internet and all the latest electronic devices. Sr Grace has done some writing and translation of books, producing VCDs and DVDs and CDs, one year of radio broadcasting in the Philippines. She has worked in Book & Media Centres, and has many experiences in bringing good books to families, offices and factories in different countries.

From the example of St Paul, our Founder, Blessed James Alberione, understood the need to work with the lay people to bring the Good News to many people. In 1918, he established the ASSOCIATION OF PAULINE COOPERATORS (APC). Today in Hong Kong, this Association has some very good and faithful members who collaborate with the Daughters of St Paul in their mission and in their Pauline spirituality. The five sisters in Hong Kong are always so grateful to their Pauline Cooperators who never fail to support them in their mission of bringing good books and media productions to the schools and parishes and other groups of people. They also help to minister to those who come to their ST PAUL MEDIA CENTRE located in Pioneer Centre in Mongkok.

The life of a Daughter of St Paul is always to sanctify herself through prayers, the sacraments and community life, and to witness to the Lord’s Good News through her apostolate of the media of communication, and through her personal contact with people. Sr Grace trusts in the Lord’s power and goodness, to help her continue living her religious life in holy love of God and in the daily witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

To young ladies of 18-28 years old:

God invites you to come follow Him

and experience his love in your life so you can witness him to others.

Our mission of bringing

good books to others

Sr Maria Ho and Sr Gesuina introducing our Founder,

Blessed James Alberione

St Paul says in the Letter to the Romans 10:15  “How beautiful are the feet of the messenger of good news.”  Romans 10:17  “So, faith comes from preaching, and preaching is rooted in the word of Christ.”

From the beginning of their religious life, the sisters study the Word of God diligently and meditate on it every day. They write and publish many books on the benefits of knowing the Word of God, especially knowing Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh and incarnate in our human story. Our Founder, Blessed James Alberione says:  “We can give no greater wealth to this poor and proud world than Jesus Christ.” And we can find Jesus Christ in the pages of the Gospel.

Since the Second Vatican Council took place, the Church has greatly urged Catholics to read and above all, to know and love the Bible, the Word of God. Today the Church encourages us to use this method called LECTIO DIVINA (Divine Reading) to listen to God’s voice through the reading of the Bible, understand its meaning and put it into practice in our daily life. In this way we can nourish our faith life, make it grow richly and so cherish it as a precious treasure. (This new Bible called THE CATHOLIC PRAYER BIBLE is based on the LECTIO DIVINA method).

The aim of the religious life is to sanctify oneself and to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. Sr Grace finds this motivation very exciting in her own religious life. She learnt to fulfil this goal through a life spent in trying to know Jesus Christ and spreading his teachings of love and salvation through her apostolate of the media of communications.
