PAULINE FAMMILY REUNION 2011

This year the Pauline Family of Hong Kong and Macau gathered at the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong.

Present were 25 members: -

One priest, Fr Manalo, from the Society of

St Paul in Macau

4 Daughters of St Paul from Macau

2 IOLA (members of Our Lady of the Annunciation)

4 Daughters of St Paul from Hong Kong

3 PDDM (Pious disciples of the Divine Master)

2 IOLA of Hong Kong

2 members of the APC (Association of Pauline

Cooperators)

We had a special guest, Dr Maurice Teo, who

attended the Eucharistic Celebration and the

lunch.

After lunch, the Pauline Family began their

Reunion by welcoming newcomers: Sr Carmeli,

PDDM and the two APC members, Maria Chan

and Dominic Lau. This year the hostess was the PDDM community and Sr Necitas, their superior, acted as the MC and the leader of the Mass and Adoration.

DISCUSSION: During the Talk given by Fr Manalo and the Sharing and the subsequent discussion, everyone was invited to suggest some projects or plans for the upcoming 3-year Preparation for the Centenary of the birth of the Pauline Family which happened in August 1914.

Fr Manalo observed that our annual Gathering was always exclusive, informal and recreational. He felt that we should be more open to the public and let ourselves be known by them. He suggested we invite our families, friends, especially young people and even the bishop to join us in our Gathering. Not everyone agreed.

NEXT ACTIVITY:

Holy Mass at the Church of St Francis Xavier in Coloane, Macau on Sunday 27th Nov 2011, followed by Dinner, and then Adoration which can be prolonged according to the participants’ wishes. Those who wish to stay overnight could find accommodation at the church.

The theme for the Mass and Adoration will be the Re-living of the famous Night of Light experienced by the Founder, Blessed James Alberione on the night between 1900 and 1901 in Alba, Italy. The Daughters of St Paul of Macau will be the hostess, and all the members of the Pauline Family are invited.

INFORMATION:

1) Each member of the Pauline Family to contribute $300 towards the expenses of the activities.

2) The IOLAs of Hong Kong and Macau are now considered as one group.

3) For the celebration of the Centenary of the Pauline Family in 2014, Hong Kong will have its own celebration and Macau also, but all members will attend the two celebrations.

FUTURE DREAM AND PROJECT:

Fr. Manalo invited us to reflect on the significance of  globalization in many aspects of modern life. Does this suggest to us how we may have to conduct our Pauline mission of living and presenting Jesus, the Way and Truth and the Life to peoples of our time? We  will be more effective if we join and work together as a Family.   We can think of establishing a Company, wherein every Institute of the Pauline Family is a corporate member (investor).  Like any other company it will have a CEO and a Board of Directors.   We will own a building, with a liturgical centre, a media centre, a chapel, a coffee shop etc.. Each institute will be represented, they will become employees of the said company, they will supply their particular items. This is a project to be cherished and brought to realization if we are brave enough to try it.

WHEN IS THE NEXT APPOINTMENT TO DISCUSS THIS?

Another more practical and easier project – to organize a common vocation campaign as Pauline Family.

Again when is the next appointment to try this out?

After the most stimulating sharing and discussions, we brought all our ideas and hopes to the Blessed Sacrament when we made our Adoration, offering all our resources and energy to the Divine Master for his service and greater glory.

The Day concluded with a Dinner served by the Filipino group of this church, for which we were truly thankful.

This is the first time that we have included our Pauline Cooperators, and they will from now onwards be part of our Pauline Family Gatherings.  Many thanks to the PDDM for all the hard work and loving care in arranging this Gathering. And also to the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation for the use of their premises.
