DAUGHTERS OF ST PAUL CELEBRATED FEAST DAY OF ST PAUL 2010

This year, His Eminence, Cardinal Joseph Zen, sdb, bishop emeritus of Hong Kong, celebrated the feast day Eucharist. Deacon Peter Leung and a good number of friends and Pauline Cooperators attended the Celebration at the Convent of the Daughters of St Paul in Shatin.

The St Paul feast day on June 30 is one of the main events for the Pauline sisters. Their other major feasts include the liturgical celebration of Jesus Divine Master on the last Sunday of October. The feast day of Mary, Queen of the Apostles occur on the Saturday after the Ascension of Our Lord.

In Hong Kong two of the 10 religious institutes of the Pauline Family are found here: the congregation of the Daughters of St Paul and the Pauline Cooperators, a lay institute, whose members share in the spirituality and mission of the Pauline sisters. They also assist and support the sisters in their Book Fairs in the schools and in churches, also in their small Book Centre in Pioneer Centre, Mongkok, unit 340, 3rd floor.

The Divine Master is calling for more people to join in the Pauline mission, in the footsteps of St Paul, bringing the Good News of the Gospel to many people, through the media of social communication, such as books, DVDs, CDs, radio, TV, films and the internet.

This year, the feast day of Mary, Queen of the Apostles was celebrated in the parish of St Alfred, Shatin, at the morning Mass. Sr Helen Ng gave a brief sharing on the significance of this Marian feast which is special to the Daughters of St Paul.

The next big feast in the Pauline sisters’ calendar will be the feast day of their Founder, Blessed James Alberione, on November 26. Blessed Alberione founded 10 religious institutes called the Pauline Family. He died on Nov 26, 1971. He was beatified on April 27, 2003.
