Daughters of St. Paul
聖保祿孝女會
Address: Ha Keng Hau Village, Shatin
The Daughters of St Paul is a religious congregation founded in 1915 by Blessed James Alberione in Alba, north Italy. Fr Alberione saw the urgent need to bring the Good News of the Gospel to those who did not go to the parishes. He understood the power and the immense reach of the press and films. With books, radio, TV, films and now the electronic media, the Word of God can penetrate all classes of society and touch their minds and hearts instantly.
Vision and Mission
To use all the mass media as well as the social media to bring the whole Christ to everyone. Called by Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, the Sisters proclaim the Good News through the communication media and bear witness with their lives.
The Hong Kong Foundation (Ha Keng Hau Village)
In 1978, four Sisters, two Italian, one Japanese and one Singaporean, arrived in Hong Kong. They learned Cantonese, and at the same time, began their mission. They visited offices, factories, schools and churches, bringing English and Chinese books, DVDs and cassettes to help people in their moral, cultural and spiritual lives. They also translated foreign publications into Chinese to satisfy the Catholic school children’s thirst for spiritual reading.
Currently, there are five Sisters in the Hong Kong community. Their mission, above all, is to bear witness for Jesus Christ through their consecrated apostolic life and prayer. The Sisters operate a small St Paul Media Centre in the shopping mall of Pioneer Centre in Mongkok where they can meet people who wish to find God in books and audio-visual materials. They also visit schools and churches, bringing with them materials containing the Word of God, good literature and religious articles. The Sisters also give talks and promote small group activities in the parish. The Daughters of St Paul are blessed with a group of Pauline Cooperators who help them in their mission to schools and churches.
