DAILY WORD of BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE 2021

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of our founder, Blessed James Alberione, we will reflect on his words and use them as our daily guide.

PRAYER INTENTION for JUNE

Develop a sensitive and realistic awareness of the times and our duties to souls. Today the whole world, the youth, the ruling class, receive every day other doctrines, listen to other theories on the radio, watch every movie show, turn to television … (CISP, p. 807).

Saint Paul conceived his letters and dictated them, reserving the right to sign them; good Christians multiplied them, copied them; good Christians circulated them. He exercised the true apostolate of publishing (CISP, p. 809).

Only one body: even in material things, one to help the others, and to help the whole Institute. Only one spirit: the same way of praying. One single hope, and that is all aimed at perfection, towards the «centuplumaccipietis, et vitamaeternam possidebitis» (AP 1960, pp. 201-202).

O Saint Paul, may we always know you better, love you, imitate you; and may we be the living members of the Church, the mystical body of Jesus Christ. Raise many and holy apostles (Prayers of the PF).

Saint Paul was a powerful organizer of good and the apostolate. He established a magnificent network of bishops and priests in the places of his missions at the end of his journeys: a network of holy pastors (APim, p. 29).

Communion is a great means for transformation: it is there that the soul feels close to Jesus, it is there that the soul adopts the way of thinking of Jesus and the feelings of Jesus’ heart and the will of Jesus (AP 1960, p. 100).

May the Pauline Family be completely grafted into Christ. In Christ, the holy olive, the fruit-bearing olive... Let us never leave, neither for a month, nor for a week, nor for a day, without coming to eat this bread of life (FSP59, p. 90).

St. Paul’s great love for souls is expressed in that «Caritas Christi Urgetnos» which urges him to do everything to everyone. He experienced the needs of all, the joys of all (RSP, p.274).

The author, the technician, and the propagandist are deeply united. Only in this union do we attain the good of souls (RSP, p. 548).

The mould St. Paul is not for a physical replication of his bodily features, but for communicating his personality to us to the maximum: his mentality, virtue, zeal, piety ... everything. The Pauline Family, composed of many members, is Saint Paul living in a social body (ACV, p. 63).

Without humility nothing is achieved; in humility, instead, we find our sanctification and human happiness itself. The proud, even in the present life, will end up feeling bad … Humility makes man dear to God and dear to men. Humility is truth (RSP, p. 319).

Faith, faith. Then we work in joy: and one contributes to the apostolate in one form, the other in another form, yes, but all together we do the apostolate of publications. It takes faith, faith: ask the Lord for an increase of faith (AP 1963, p. 75).

Taking help from others, Saint Paul ordained worthy priests in every city: Even the women served to spread the Gospel and some of them are remembered in his letters as people to whom the Church and souls were much indebted (APim, p.88).

Faith, working through charity, unites us to Jesus Christ in whom holiness, the divine life, is incarnated. It does more: it creates in us a new being, animated by the spirit of Jesus Christ (DF, 64).

When Saint Paul arrived, he did not appear for an occasional lecture: but he stayed and formed: to ensure the consent of the intellect, to persuade, to convert, to unite with Christ, to begin a fully Christian life (APim, p. 227).

Saint Paul used to entrust to some priests to continue his work; he often used to return there with his word and writing;he wanted news, he was with them in spirit, he prayed for them (APim, p. 227).

The Word of God has innate power: it often depends on us not to reduce it. How did St. Paul preach? How did the Apostles preach? How did the great doctors of the Church preach? This ministry requires hard work, perseverance, zeal, and right intention: it requires that we possess the heart of Jesus, and his love for souls (CISP, p. 827).

Offering (of self) must be lived with an ever growing rhythm: in the mind ... in the will ...in the heart ... so that Jesus may truly become the centre of all life and we may be able to repeat with Saint Paul: «It is no longer I who live, it is Jesus who lives in me» (APD 47, 56).

Know and meditate on Saint Paul in his life, works, and letters; think, reason, speak, and work according to him; and invoke his paternal assistance (ACV, p. 63).

If we read the Letters of St. Paul we understand well what was his thinking: his reasoning, and every word he wrote, was conformed to Christ; it was an application of the divine doctrine of the Gospel to life, to circumstances (AP 1958/1, p. 175).

You have to give up everything: your way of thinking, the preferences you had, the trends and then the ways of dealing; you have to have a new heart, a new mind and a new way of working.... And the examples are there: Mary, Jesus, Saint Paul (AP 1960, p. 98).

The apostolate makes us the loudspeakers of God. Priests, writers, technicians, propagandists are united in a single apostolate, according to the spirit and the letter of the Constitutions; in the mission that the Church has entrusted to us (CISP, p. 809).

I want to work with all the alacrity of mind and heart, and of the task. Especially I want to pray so much to Jesus humble of heart, that He may be united with me and transform my life into His (Diario di D. Giaccardo, 15 June 1915).

Canon Chiesa was the Godfather of the Pauline Family. From him we received the doctrine, the spirit, and guidance; he was the daily support for many years, in various forms. His life was exceptional and heroic in every virtue; his zeal was shown to every person and every initiative (UPS IV, 7).

«Where there is charity, there is God», or the presence of God is lost as the bonds of charity are broken or contrary judgments or criticisms or dislikes or divisions of thought and activity arise. With unity in charity there is peace and there is holiness (AP 1958/2, pp. 140-141).

One of the works that best reveals the soul of Saint Paul, who was fond of his children and filled with zeal, is that of the visits... Thus he repeated his apostolic journeys which cost him immense effort, but which brought immense joy and great spiritual fruit (APim, pp. 105-106).

During the Council, Pauline activity was declared an apostolate alongside preaching, surrounded by high esteem before the Church and the world. The current progress of the press, cinema, radio and television is in conformity with God’s will (CISP, p. 342).

Saint Paul exhorts us to love one another as if we were forming a family, or rather, a single body and a single soul, bearing one another’s defects (APim, p. 60).

In his journeys Saint Paul always sought out the great cities, the most cultured and commercial ones, where he established a nucleus of the faithful that were like a hearth and a centre from which the faith spread all around: like Ephesus,Athens, Corinth, Philippi, Antioch, Rome (APim, p. 88).

O Saint Paul, who in your charity have made yourself everything to everyone, deign to look also at me who am often selfish... Change my heart: awaken in me feelings of kindness, of charity, of dedication. Make my heart according to your heart (BM, p. 107).
