The Pauline Cooperators are always eager to learn more about the Bible and about their spiritual renewal. In August we found a Bible scholar through Kit Chu and Maria Chan, Ms Veronica Soong, who was willing to teach a course of four sessions on the Gospel of Mark. Making considerable sacrifices of time and efforts, the APC members came regularly to listen to Veronica during the whole month of August.
This is not the first time we had Bible lessons. Last year we had a few random lessons from some members of the Hong Kong Biblical Association. Before that, we also had a course on St Paul from Sr Fenfang, a Daughter of St Paul. Although she spoke in Mandarin, most members could follow the course well. She also gave many notes which helped to remember the lessons.
As Pauline Cooperators of the Daughters of St Paul, we are called to bring Jesus to the world. But, if we do not have Jesus in our heart, and if we do not know Jesus personally, how are we able to give Jesus to the world? What we don’t have, we can’t give!
This is why our spiritual directress, Sister Grace has been guiding us and leading us closer to God by sharing with us the spiritual insights of our Founder, Blessed James Alberione. We need to become more and more like Jesus, as St Paul said, I LIVE NOW NOT I BUT CHRIST LIVES IN ME.
So we hope to advance day by day in our growth in living the life of Christ in us.
Let us continue to work towards the goal to be fully armored to serve Jesus,
the Master, the Way, the Truth and the Life!
Veronica taught us the basics of the Bible, led us to study closely the Gospel of Mark with comparison of passages, expounded on the parables and finally concluded that every time we read the bible, it is really a personal experience of God. Sometimes we may never understand or be able to interpret what the passage is saying, but, with the help of the Holy Spirit, God will always speak to us in a very personal way. Despite the many difficulties we faced, Veronica helped us to love the Word of God by making the few lessons very interesting and entertaining. We are indeed very blessed to have the opportunity to learn from her.
