Fifteen members attended the Retreat. They took turns to lead the Morning and Night Prayers, and also to guide the Adoration during the three days. Sr Grace Lee, their Spiritual Director showed them a power-point presentation of KNOWING THE MASTER ACCORDING TO BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE.
This was the main topic of the Retreat. Fr Ha spoke about the person of Jesus and his definition of himself as WAY, TRUTH AND LIFE (John 14: 6). He gave some interesting insights into this identity of Jesus. (For members’ reflection of his Talk, read on…)
At the end of the Retreat the members looked towards the future. They immediately fixed the next Retreat for Jan 16-18, 2015, maybe in Honeyville (run by Canossian Sisters in Hong Kong island), or in St Paul’s House of Prayer (run by Sisters of St Paul in Sheung Shui). The outstanding event for 2015 will be the Centenary of the Daughters of St Paul. Some initial plans and ideas for the celebration were discussed.
The forthcoming Pauline event would be the feast of St Paul on June 30. At the Eucharistic celebration three members will take their PROMISE, which means they would become full fledged members in the Association of Pauline Cooperators (APC).
Ah Chum, his wife Tina, and Ivy will prepare themselves to be formally accepted into the Association which is an international association of the Pauline Family.
Sr Grace told the members that this APC will be registered in the Hong Kong Diocese as one of the many lay associations existing in the HK Diocese. The Association of Pauline Cooperators was launched in 2008.
ANNUAL RETREAT OF HONG KONG PAULINE COOPERATORS
MAY 2-4, 2014 AT SHEK O RETREAT HOUSE
AN ODE TO THE SEA
From my window the sea spreads out before me,
An immense stretch of placid tranquility.
Silent gentle ripples on the submerged rocks,
Lazy curvy waves roll towards the nearby hillocks
Making me feel God’s loving presence in the sea.
The vast waters seem like solid ground,
So still, so passive, without a sound,
Yet looking deeply I see fish swimming by,
Birds and even an eagle gliding in the sky
And the glorious clouds gleaming like God’s crown.
In the darkness, quiet ships sail by, trailing their lights
Forming exotic mysterious shapes in the nights.
The hills stand in the background like sentinels
As if guarding us with their mystic bells
And all God’s creation manifests his wondrous delights.
With the sea my heart swells with gratitude and love,
My spirit exults and blends with the stars above,
To praise and bless the almighty Father
Who cares and loves me as a tender Mother
As I nestle in his peace like a little dove.
“Even though we had to stay 3 persons to a
room, we did not make noise or disturb each other”, said Ivy, one of the original members of this Association.
“I liked Fr Louis Ha’s talk very much. He really explained very well the meaning of JESUS MASTER, WAY, TRUTH AND LIFE.
How I wish he could have remained with us for more time so we can get some
personal spiritual helps and also make our Confession,” said Goretti, a faithful member.
